Mark grew up training horses the traditional way. Whilst in high school he and a friend broke horses for a German guy outside Pretoria. He broke his fair share of bones over the years because he did not know the natural horsemanship way. Later, he lived in Fort Worth Texas for four years where he was introduced to the work of the natural horsemanship masters like Pat Perelli, John Lyons and Tom Dorrance. A whole new world opened up to him and he started enjoying horses in a way that he never realised existed. In recent years he has developed a step-by-step approach of training horses and teaching people. These steps have now been put into three structured training courses.
